I sit on the subway and think
Flying through  the fields of the mind
Straying between a broken link
Of the chains that our bodies bind
Beneath the sun, beneath the moon
I ride through forest and mountain
Golden leaves on white snow strewn
Swimming through a starry fountain
Passing dreams of many others
Building castles in the sky
Seeking boons from fairy godmothers
On the wings of dragons they fly
And then the subway ride ends for today
And homeward I make my way

Heart of Life II

Standard

I am the sun between the clouds
I am the wolf packs’ nightly howls
I am the spider spinning webs
I am every flowers’ stems
I am Jupiter’s cosmic storm
I am the amoeba’s shifting form
I am the shadows in the night
I am the sun that brings you light
I am the faun’s song on the fife
I am the heart of life

Inspired by this piece of music by Marc Jungermann

Beyond the aeons of the stars the twisted gods dwell
They hunger for flesh and never-ending wars
One day they shall make the universe a raging hell
The feast on souls and leave the mind a mass of scars
In the darkness of the heart they fester and curse us all
In the centre of the mind they breed thoughts of chaos
With threats of pain and thoughts of pleasure we heed their call
Their speech is foul, their deeds are heinous
Inside, they rot and feed like maggots on sanity
Outside, they devour stars and defile planets
They make us writhe in horror’s pain and agony
The pain, stabbing into you mind like a thousand lancets
Inside your heart and your mind the twisted gods dwell
They have made your life a raging hell

The space of time remains unknown
The means of life cannot be seen
Our fates are on strange winds blown
Some on money and fame are keen
Some make promises, others hear
Some love words or crosses or song
Some smile, frown, scowl or leer
Promises made, and broken, all day long
Everyday, fear and hatred
Some find love, some live lust
But as the wise have said
In the end, all turn into dust
The dead know all, they are grey and sombre
But still we live and hate, curse with laughter
